Four giants of the Appalachian Trail will be inducted into the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame on Friday, June 2, at the seventh annual Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame Banquet. This year, the Banquet will be held at a new location, the Comfort Suites in downtown Carlisle, Pennsylvania, at 10 South Hanover Street, just four miles from the A.T. The new Hall of Fame inductees are Harlean James of Washington, DC; Charles Parry of Blacksburg, VA; Mildred Norman "Peace Pilgrim" Ryder, of Egg Harbor, NJ; and Matilda "Tillie" Wood, of Roswell, GA.
Emcee for the evening will be Ron Tipton, Executive Director and CEO of Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau will receive the Museum's "Partnership Appreciation Award". Music will be provided again by Randy "Windtalker" Motz. Windtalker’s music is described as "Native SoundScapes", a unique blend of traditional and contemporary Native American-style flute.
Larry Luxenberg, President and Founder of the Appalachian Trail Museum, said a 6 p.m. reception will precede the dinner, which begins at 7 p.m. The cost of the reception and dinner is $35 for museum members and $45 for others.
