A.T. CHILDRENS MUSEUM

In June, 2016, the Museum opened its Childrens section, located in the basement of the Old Mill building. The Childrens Museum tells the story of the Appalachian Trail for young people.
While at the Childrens Museum, you can: SEE…a life-size image of the American Black Bear. GUESS…the Trail names of some real-life hikers. IMAGE…hiking above the clouds. LEARN…how to leave no trace when hiking and camping. A thoughtful hike along our mini-Appalachian Trail will introduce you to onion-tasting RAMPS, an imaginary mountain protector PAMOLA, the black mud of VERMONT, and so much more! Visitors can imagine what it is like to hike the A.T., going either northbound or southbound. There is a display panel for each of the fourteen states on the A.T., with interesting and fun facts about that state. We're planning some exciting additions to the Childrens Museum, including a "Become a Hiker" activity and "A Day on the Trail" mural. Below is a brief movie that shows the Childrens Museum. |

The Childrens Museum also features a library of books for young people to use. These books were donated by Linda Patton, a/k/a eArThworm. HERE is a link to Linda's website, Books For Hikers. We thank eArThworm for her generosity.
