Founding Librarian

Holding the late Sam Waddle's copy of Larry Luxenberg's book, "Walking The Appalachian Trail."

Here's an article about the Library from the
Winter 2020-21 issue of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association’s newsletter:

History of the
founding of A.T. Museum’s Research Library

The Appalachian Trail Museum's Research Library acquires books, periodicals, and other records pertaining to trails and hiking, with a strong emphasis on the Appalachian Trail.

The Research Library on the third floor of the Appalachian Trail Museum is for the use of writers, academicians, historians, and others who wish to research the story of the Appalachian Trail and those who hike it, those who build and maintain it, and those who love it. Researchers will also find books on other trails and on hiking/backpacking in general.

See below for links to the Library's rules of use and its online catalogs. To request an appointment for research use of the collections, use the Contact link.

To ask a question about the library or about donating materials to the library, email the Librarian: librarian@atmuseum.org
