Maine, the northernmost state along the Appalachian Trail, has some of the wildest, most remote sections of the trail. It is the state that offers some of the toughest challenges along the A.T., and in successfully navigating it, some of the most awesome rewards. In this 7th and final year of highlighting each of the 14 individual states that the trail passes through, we will experience the wild, rugged, northwoods beauty and grandeur of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Revered by many a hiker, Mt. Katahdin looms in the distance, signifying the end of the trail and a life-changing sense of accomplishment for those who make it to the top.
Lorrie completed her lifetime section hike of the entire Appalachian Trail in 2012. She is also a Museum docent.
