Filmmaker Joel Guelzo visited the Appalachian Trail Museum recently. He is working on a documentary film about the Sutton family. Cassie and Josh Sutton have nearly completed the Appalachian Trail, along with their 5 year old son, Harvey, a/k/a Little Man. When he completes the Trail, Little Man will become the youngest known person to hike the entire 2,190 mile A.T., surpassing by a few months the record set by Buddy Backpacker (Christian Thomas) in 2017.
Guelzo visited the Museum to film background footage on the A.T. at the Museum. He filmed several exhibits at the Museum and interviewed Jim Foster, a Museum volunteer, member of the Museum Board and a 2007 A.T. thru-hiker. Guelzo has filmed the Suttons several time along their journey and plans to accompany them as they summit Katahdin this summer. After that, he plans to complete the film later in 2021. The Museum and Guelzo are discussing plans for the release of the movie sometime after that.
Guelzo is an award winning filmmaker whose latest completed project is Norman, a 2019 feature-length science fiction thriller about time travel. The film is available on Amazon Prime and other outlets.
