1983 Philosopher's Guide

The 1983 Philosopher's Guide to the AT carried by Gonzo! on his 1983 AT thruhike.  This was the state of the art Trail information guide for the time. There is a beginning section providing preparatory advice and later giving the most current trail and town information concerning supplies, etc. that did not show up in the official A.T. guides provided by the ATC.  There is a short history at the beginning relating how the idea for the guide came into being and makes reference to its forerunner, "The Bootleg Guide to the A.T."  There was a guide similar to the "Bootleg Guide"  available as of the spring of 1980 known as the "Beer Drinker & Ice Cream Eater's Guide to the A.T."
