1978 Three Springs Shelter Register

This shelter register comes from Bob Dillon, who had left this notebook as a replacement shelter register in the Three Springs Shelter in Northern Virginia during his 1978 Thru Hike.  When the notebook was filled up, some kind soul sent him the notebook and he has kept it since then until donating it to the A.T. Museum.  Bob also donated a copy of the Charlotte Observer Newspaper article written by another Thru Hiker, Karen Olson, who was right behind him and wrote one of the first entries of the new register.

Here are some of the Hikers who wrote in the register, way back in 1978 when a lot of people still used cursive writing (a lost art it seems).  First entry: 7/1/1978 - Last entry: 12/11/1978

Karen Olson, Cindy Ross, Dennis Risser, Ken Bradbury, Lee Williams, Tom Lardner, Fred Muir, John Piscopo, Matt Paumen, Greg Hansen and William P. Bishop
