Dear
Friend of the Appalachian Trail:
The
Appalachian Trail community is blessed with many members
who have extraordinary talents, skills and interests
- not to mention an unbelievable and unbeatable amount
of dedication to the Trail. With the opening of the
A.T. museum in the Old Mill at Pine Grove Furnace State
Park, Gardners, PA, we now have a place to showcase
our specialties.
This
opportunity is tremendous. It includes educating the
public, inspiring young people, entertaining children,
preserving the Trail's natural environment, spotlighting
our rich history, acknowledging our pioneer hikers,
and in general celebrating all those who contribute
to the A.T community.
As
chairman of the A.T. museum program committee, I ask
your help in filling the 2011 season with great programs
on topics closely related to the A.T. A few possibilities
are listed below to get you thinking.
In
general, programs will be offered each Sunday at 1 PM
from May through September. They will be offered to
the public free of charge. Exceptions may be made to
accommodate a special program.
If
you or someone you know has a special area of interest,
I would love to hear from you. Please contact me as
listed below.
Thank
you for helping to celebrate the Trail! Gwen
